March 4, 2017 - The Path

Has anyone else watched this show -- The Path? I kept seeing ads for it, and people making vague, cryptic comments over to the other big name social media site. I finally gave in and started the first season.

It's not original, we know this story, but it's done exceptionally well. I was drawn in almost immediately.

Eddie falls in love with Sarah, who is a member of the Meyerist Movement, a cult. It's a scary cult, too. Eddie has doubts from the very beginning, however, he truly loves Sarah and sticks with it. When their oldest son is 15 and almost old enough to make a commitment and take his vows, things take a turn for the worse.

It's a Hulu original program (I have an account, have for years, but if you have a Roku account, Hulu is free.). I highly recommend that you at least check it out.

Yes, I watched the first season when it was new. I got hooked immediately! I really love the work by Hugh Dancy, it's awesome! When I see him in this series it is as if he was real, not just a character. So poignant and perverse.
For whatever reason I did not start watching the second season. I am so hooked right now to The Crown. I love this tv series. Deeply psychological. But tonight I will watch the last episode of The Path belonging to the First Season and will follow up with first episode from Season II. ! :D

I agree about Hugh Dancy. He's a marvelous actor and it's easy to believe Cal is a real person.

My family has activities planned for the whole weekend, most of them do not include me. I'm going to try to finish season one and start season two. I loved the Crown, too. Every minute of every episode.

Well, there was a birthday that I had almost forgotten, and so I did not have the time to spend the weekend at home and watch movies. I only watched some JFK Documentaries that we enjoy watching because we are planning on going to Dallas soon and see the place of events. So, I am going to start with The Path this week. I want to catch you up! :D Hugs

When Mr. Kennedy was shot, I was 4 years old, and I still remember - it's like a movie that plays in my head. We were at the market, my mother and my grandmother were doing the shopping. My father had Cathy and me at the magazine rack, to keep us entertained, while we waited. The store manager made an announcement on the overhead speaker that the President had been shot. My dad picked us up, one in each arm, ran out to the car and turned on the radio. My mother and grandmother joined us shortly after. My mom and granny wept openly, faces in their hands. My dad had tears running down his face and tried to comfort them the best he knew how.

Oliver Stone's movie JFK is probably my favorite. It captured the pulse and the "feel" of the nation at that time. I want to believe that there were multiple shooters, but deep down, I really think Oswald was the lone gunman.

Unforgettable emotions. My mom was inside a bus, in Cuba (she and my dad had left Spain for studying and church missions) where they had been living there since just before the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Somehow the driver found out through another driver by his side and he told everyone. He stopped the bus and everyone was saddened and very much worried. My mom says she left the bus and checked the tv's that were on in a shop. Everyone was watching the news. Everyone was sad and crying. She cried too. I was only one so I have no memory at all. My mom always comments that she saw the VP rubbing his hands many times and she felt that was a sign he was hiding something or he was too excited to get the job. My mother never believed Oswald did it. But who knows. My husband doesn't believe it neither. We have watched so many documentaries and some things don't really make any sense. I hope one day somehow the truth shows up but i also doubt it.

Oh, about The Crown, yesterday we at home watched the last episode. What a great tv series, it is so wonderfully scripted. Even the open credits are a piece of art. Now I must convince my husband to start again with The Path. Yesterday I watched the first episode from the first season of Hand of God. Very poignant.
