February 9, 2017 Why I'm Not A Fan of:

Facebook

I first wandered over to Facebook in 2008 where I found a lot of people I'd lost touch with, family members in other states, those stupid games like Farmland, etc. It was fun and exciting catching up with everyone, finding out about their lives, what they're doing now, etc.

Then, people began sharing silly memes or inspirational images from other sites and soon there were only a few original posts to be found. If, Heaven forbid, someone did make a post on a topic they felt strongly about, it turned into a comment war. Other people were ugly and insulting, as if that would make the poster change his/her mind.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a tree-hugging, singing-songs-around-the-campfire, can't-we-all-just-get-along, peace-loving, hippy freak, and have been since I learned to walk and talk. I can express a difference of opinion without being rude or belittling. Bullies bug the ever-lovin' crap outta me!

When 2015 rolled around and the presidential hopefuls threw their hats in the ring, everything went to Hell in a handbasket. The Trump supports came out with guns blazing. The liberals refused to take it lying down. There were times I could almost imagine my laptop catching fire or exploding.

I believe what bothered me most (and still does), is that Trump ran his entire campaign on fear and hatred, and half of America, including members of my family and friends I've known most of my life!, were okay with it.

Now, there's the whole "cry babies", "snowflakes", "he won, get over it", "he is your president" horse sh*t that just won't stop.

Here, I can speak my mind and no one fights with me. The people here are much more civilized and I truly appreciate that. From now on, I'll visit Facebook, check in with family and friends, but I'll stay here.

For some inexplicable reason, this past week seems as though it lasted at least two times longer than normal. It is finally Friday, I'm home, and my sister and I are taking the weenie kids out for dinner tonight. The only thing carved in stone is: No Pizza! That is all they ever want to eat and I'm really tired of it.

In other news, more vacation time has been requested and approved. August 4-10 will find me hanging out here, spending time at the pool and liquor will consumed.

Now that you have more information than you could ever want or need, the Fast Seatbelts sign is off and you're free to move about the cabin.

Happy Weekend Ever Body!

Friday was definitely better that Thursday. I made it to work with plenty of time to spare, I remembered all my gadgets, and the work flow and pace were much, much more tolerable.

If anyone is actually home on this beautiful evening, talk to me about email clients. Which one do you use and why?

I find myself wishing that I could somehow merge Outlook and Thunderbird into one program that will do exactly what I want, when I want.

There was plenty of fun to be had at the office. The Corporate Compliance Department came to our building to make nice – they brought us ceramic coffee mugs, ink pens, post it notes, and little badges with retractable hooks for our photo ID-slash-swipe cards.

No one wanted to be at the office today, including management. Things were very relaxed and we didn’t do much. That’s always good for a Friday.

Earlier this evening, while trying to confirm some dates, I ended up going to Google Groups and searching the ATH archives. I found so many funny things, like The Highlander: Liver Action Role Play, The Bus Trip, and the song contest from 1996. Good times, man.

That’s all the news that anyone might possibly find interesting, and Most Haunted begins in less than fifteen minutes. I’m outta here!
