365 Writing Prompts Day 14
Jan. 14th, 2017 01:14 amJanuary 14, 2017 - Taboo
This isn't from the prompts list. Taboo is a limited series that premiered on FX this last Tuesday, there are only eight episodes for this season. IMDb says:
James Keziah Delaney returns to 1812 London after 10 years in Africa to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his father. Driven to wage war on those who have wronged him, Delaney finds himself in a face-off against the East India Company, whilst playing a dangerous game between two warring nations, Britain and America.
They fail to mention is that James knows all manner of magic, as did his father, they could communicate over long distances via a psychic connection, and he's able to commune with the dead. They give him a lot of really useful information.
Additionally, there are all kinds "taboo" going on -- murder, miscegenation, slavery, and some incest thrown in for good measure. This is just from the first episode. Who knows what else they'll show us...
My boyfriend, Tom Hardy, plays James. There are a few Game of Thrones alum in the cast, as well as other familiar faces. It's dark, and I'm not referring just to the subject matter. I guess London was really dark in 1812, since electricity wasn't developed and available until 1880...
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the premiere and I'm hooked.
