I love The Little Blue Car™. It has a 5-speed manual transmission, fits into any parking space, there is plenty of room in the backseat for the kids, it's paid for, and the list just goes on.

You Can't Be Twenty on Sugar Mountain
This evening, my sister invited me to her home for dinner, it was our Easter Celebration, since everyone has obligations tomorrow, but was free tonight. Remind me later to tell you about the newest member of our family, Miles, who was born in January. He's a keeper!
Anyway, on my drive home, Sugar Mountain was playing on the radio. I've always known this song, Neal released it in 1969 -- if you're counting, that's 48 years ago.
Tonight, I got it. Even though I'm not old, I'm no longer young.
My great nieces and nephews are in their twenties, just beginning their lives. I remember doing that, but I have nothing in common with them, nothing to say that they can relate to. I'm on the outside looking in.
It stung for a few seconds, but I got over it. When I arrived home, Leslie and the wiener kids had arrived a few minutes ahead of me, with new clothes to wear to church tomorrow morning. We had a fashion show, discussed accessories, hair styles, nail polish, etc., and I decided that even though I can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain, being the Mema is a really good head space.
Day 104
The Stolen Kiss by Jean-Honore Fragonard. Cathy and I were fortunate enough to see this painting at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1990, when they had a HUGE collection of paintings on loan from the Leningrad Museum. We saw Matisse, Manet, Monet, Picasso, Gauguin, but we kept going back to this one. It was mesmerizing. Are the lovers engaged? Is this a clandestine tryst? Is he a servant? Is he married? Is she? I can and do make up stories in my head about what's going on and why they have to hide their love.
Day 103
The Taj Mahal. Now, I'm completely aware that the woman who is entombed there, Mumtaz Mahal, died in childbirth, delivering her 14th child. I know that it is a monument to the sub-human subjugation and mistreatment of women. I get that, truly I do. But..every time I see a photo in a magazine or on television, the sheer beauty makes me catch my breath.
Honestly, I try to imagine visiting the slave trade / auction sites in the American Southern States and trying to find beauty there, and it makes me feel nauseous and sweaty. However, the Taj Mahal... I long to see it, it sings a sweet siren song to my soul, 'come, come to me and you'll find peace'.
Day 102
What is your favorite way to get lost in simple activity, what's it like when you're in "the zone"?
I've written about this before, but it something I truly enjoy and don't mind talking about it again. I call my activity Wandering Aimlessly.
This began back in the late 90's, after I became fully "netified". I'd be watching a movie or television show, hear something that piqued my interest, and do a web search. Then, I'd just start clicking on random links, going wherever they took me.
I've wasted entire afternoons, truthfully, just wandering from page to page with no real destination. It's simply amazing the knowledge one can gain by reading things that others feel is pertinent enough to post on a website... the validity and usefulness is strictly up to the wanderer, but it just about my favorite pastime that does not include other people.

Puddles alter ego is Mike Geier and he's absolutely amazing, but he can't seem to get time in the spotlight unless he's Puddles... I'll start with an old one, the original was released in 1977, when I was a senior in high school.

April 5, 2017 -- Five Things No One Warned Me About
- At eighteen, having a job, having money in my pocket, hanging out with friends, and meeting boys was great fun. However, staying in college and getting a degree really is more important.
- After a (very) brief stint working retail in the late 1970's, I learned that some people are animals. If there are no witnesses to hold them accountable, people do things in stores that can make you vomit.
- When I went to work on the night shift at a hospital, I quickly learned that stuff... weird stuff happens. The night tribe is a completely different breed, and they are beacons, if you will, to the other things/beings that come out after the sun goes down.
- Working with the night tribe is addictive. I met people and learned things about myself that I really like.
- Don't get too comfortable where you are in life or you'll stop taking chances.

Rice didn't and couldn't "order" the unmasking of any American, current and former officials say. The agencies that hold the raw surveillance transcripts — usually the NSA or the FBI — make that decision. It's a process subject to rules and reviewed by lawyers, and it has to be justified by an intelligence purpose.

Still sick, but better. Plus, I'm totally swept up with the train wreck going on in Washington right now. I have a sad feeling that the only person who will face any real heat is Mike Flynn, and we'll still be stuck with #45.
