Family Reunions and other miscellany

Today, [personal profile] rontgenkatze and I went to our cousins' 50th wedding anniversary reception. They were married 05/03/1959 and we were born 06/03/59. Spooky, no?

Anyway, probably seventy percent of the extended fam was there. I saw people I hadn't seen since Sean's funeral, and others I hadn't seen in at least five years. It was bittersweet, but it was fun to catch up.

I was thrilled beyond measure that everyone loves and respects my cousins for their huge accomplishment, and put aside all their stupid squabbles and drama for this celebration.

And babies! My God in Heaven, you wouldn't believe how many babies, toddlers and preschoolers were there. One little girl who looked to be around three, obviously was allowed to dress herself for the fete. Her ensemble consisted of a zebra print sun dress, purple cowboy boots, and a red scrunchi ponytail holder. It was to die for!

Cathy and I decided to visit the ladies room and stopped a couple of tweens to ask for directions. One girl rolled her eyes, heaved a heavy sigh, and said "We don't go here, this isn't our church."

Her companion gave us a sympathetic smile and explained, "We're Pentecostal."

If you weren't raised Pentecostal, as we were, you won't find this funny.

So, we're home now, in our comfy clothes, in comfy chairs, preparing for an evening of television. Hope everyone else had a fun Saturday afternoon.
