This prompt was stolen from Vickita I received my 5 words from Maria
Pink Floyd: Good times, man. The first Pink Floyd song I remember hearing is "Money", in 1973, when I was a freshman in high school. When I heard the entire album, I was hooked. I could gush on and on about Waters' lyrics, Gilmour's guitar, Richard's keyboards, Nick's percussion, how their music pleased God so much that He made them one of the most well known and successful bands worldwide. However I wouldn't have anything new or insightful to offer.
I can tell you that after 36 years, I still listen their music, on an almost daily basis. Wish You Were Here is still my all time favorite album and song. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" puts me into a near hypnotic state, I have to stop whatever I'm doing, because I can't concentrate on anything but the song.
Kurt Cobain: I have a love-hate relationship with the boy. Some of you know what inspires the hate, but I won't elaborate here. I had to look up dates, because I was close but not positive. At our family Christmas gathering in 1991, my niece Lori played "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for us. I thought it was hilarious, but was afraid to laugh, because I might offend her. After it finished, she told me it was supposed to be funny. I also remember Sean bringing home the Unplugged CD. He wanted to call me a liar when I told him that Bowie wrote/sang "The Man Who Sold The World" and The Meat Puppets wrote/sang "Lake of Fire", as well as a couple more.
About a year after he died, one afternoon, I sat down at the computer to check email. Leslie had been on previously, and hadn't closed out a post she was drafting for a bulletin board/forum. She'd written a very emotional, yet eloquent argument (with references), supporting the theory that Courtney killed Curt. It reminded me of the way I felt about Yoko after John died.
Missouri (Misery): Frigid cold in the winter, flooding in the spring, hot as Hades in the summer, and did I mention tornadoes? It is also one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. I've never lived anywhere else, and would say that I probably haven't missed out on much.
The town where I live has a fascinating history. We lay claim to the nation's first recorded "quick draw" shoot out. Wild Bill Hickcock shot and killed Davis Tutt, Jr, on July 21, 1865 at high noon. We're officially known as the birthplace of Route 66, the first transcontinental highway that runs between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Coast. We also had the very first television series to be broadcast in color that wasn't filmed and broadcast from New York City or Hollywood.
Graveyards: Some are incredibly beautiful, some are truly frightening, even in daylight hours. But each one is totally unique and should be experienced to its fullest.
Now, Cathy and I do not dress in black and spend a great deal of time hanging out in cemeteries. However, we have visited quite a few and had more than our share of unusual (and unsettling) encounters. I would not go so far as to say we had paranormal experiences, because we never actually saw anything.
If you decide to give it a try sometime, take a digital camera, a Polaroid type instant camera, a flashlight and plenty of batteries.
Cocktail Wieners: are a fairly recent innovation and have made a name for themselves in the realm of quick appetizers. They have become ubiquitous at potluck dinners, picnics, and Christmas parties everywhere in the United States. They are pre-cooked, salty and spicy - perfect for a heavier appetizer and quick to fix. Not to be confused with the hideous mystery meat of Vienna sausages, cocktail wieners are actual beef or pork tiny sausages, usually with some kind of smoke flavoring. In texture, they're more like a bratwurst, although they look like tiny hot dogs.
Additionally, I have the prettiest and smartest grandchildren in the world, nay, universe! I was going to spam you with their latest exploits but thought this would be funnier.
Big day ahead, starting in just a few hours. I'm going to sleep now and give a detailed report later. Good night everybody!
